Five Seed Blend, Five Ways
Though we usually focus our attention on single pressed seed oils for our health, did you know that blending oils can actually pack an even bigger punch in terms of health benefits?
Here at Activation, we’ve created our own seed oil blend, made up of five super healthy seed oils.
Five Seed Blend is loaded with health benefits.
Sesame, flax, pumpkin seed, sunflower and coriander seed oils each bring their own health benefits to the table. Together, they make this dynamic blend a must-have for health enthusiasts.
You can eat oil right off the spoon each day. But there are some other great ways to use Perfect Press® Five Seed.
Use it in your food…
The nuttiness of sesame and pumpkin, the buttery flavor of sunflower, the spicy allure of coriander and the creamy goodness of flax…they all come together in this potent oil blend.
Some people choose to add it to their smoothies or fresh-pressed juice because it helps to improve the absorption of the nutrients in your drink. You can learn more about fat-soluble vitamins in this recent blog post.
You can also use it as a base for a salad dressing. Combine it with ingredients like balsamic or rice vinegar, other oils and a variety of spices.
Or pour a little Five Seed over your eggs. It’s a great way to add some flavor and a nutrition boost to your breakfast. It only takes a drizzle to shake up your omelet.
You can even mix your Five Seed Blend with some spices and dip your bread in it for a tasty appetizer.
There are many ways to use this oil in the kitchen, but we don’t recommend cooking with it as the smoke point is not high enough. To learn more about why oil smoke points are important, check out our Oil Smoke Points: How Hot is Too Hot post.
For some extra kitchen fun, we’ve created five exciting recipes using five simple ingredients, including Five Seed Blend. Check them out in the Activation Kitchen and give them a try!
Clean your teeth and gums…
Trying to figure out how oil can help your teeth?
The practice might seem strange to those who haven’t tried it, but oil pulling works!
Oil pulling involves swishing a tablespoon of oil around your mouth for 10-20 minutes each day. It can fight bacteria in your mouth and many oil pulling enthusiasts report brighter, cleaner teeth, healthier gums and better breath.
MamaNatural.com describes the benefits in more detail: “[Oil pulling] activates enzymes that have a powerful detoxifying affect on our entire system; they literally pull toxins, bacteria, fungus, and other nasty bugs from the mouth and the entire body, helping to cleanse our blood. Since our mouths are a focal point for bacteria and microorganisms that mix with our saliva and eventually reach our bloodstream, you can see how wiping these bad guys out with oil pulling makes a profound impact on our bodies.”
Coconut oil is often recommended because of its pleasant taste and allegedly antimicrobial nature (which is not actually held up by science… but oil doesn’t need to be antimicrobial in and of itself to work in oil pulling anyway). Five Seed Blend has the advantage of having a light texture in addition to a pleasant taste, so it isn’t as difficult to keep swishing it around your mouth for long enough to be effective. Five Seed Blend is so light and easy to use. It’s the perfect solution for those who have difficulty with oil pulling or for anyone new to the practice.
Be warned…
Be warned though, oil pulling is a complex topic with both pros and cons.
While it may seem like the perfect solution, problems can arise if you oil pull too often. This is due to the fact that oil pulling actually pulls out all of the bacteria from your mouth, both bad and good. We actually need the good bacteria (which is most of it) to keep our mouths healthy.
Oil pulling once in awhile, or if you’re suffering from an infection can be beneficial. But try not to rely on it too much for your daily oral health.

Use it on your nails…
Skip the expensive cuticle oils and creams. All you need is a drop or two of Five Seed Blend to strengthen and repair your nails.
Simply apply a very small amount to your nail and massage it in, rubbing the excess into your hands for added moisture and skin benefits.
There are many oils that specifically benefit your nails and flaxseed — one of the five oils in Five Seed — is one of them. Janice Taylor at NaturalLivingIdeas.com explains why: “Flaxseed is another wonderfully nourishing oil that benefits nails when used daily. Flaxseed oil is full of essential fatty acids, as well as antioxidants and minerals which promote faster, stronger growth. To get the best results from this natural remedy, simply massage pure organic flaxseed oil into your nails for a few minutes 1 – 2 times per day.”
The other oils in the blend are also loaded with essential fatty acids and vitamins that will help to repair and strengthen your nails and moisturize your skin. Just a few minutes of massage every couple of days will give you a natural, manicured look.
Slather it on your skin…
Did you know that you can use oil to cleanse and moisturize your face? We know, it sounds crazy. Most people try to avoid making their skin oilier than it already is, fearing it could cause a breakout, but some oils are actually important for skin health even if you don’t have dry skin.
Oils are in a lot of the beauty products you may already be using, but the problem is that they are often accompanied by chemicals and additives that can cause blockages and buildup and even lead to health problems in the long-term.
Five Seed Blend can be used in a natural face mask or on its own as a moisturizer. It can be used for treating eczema and other skin irritations and has anti-aging effects.
It is such a light textured oil, that it goes on smooth and is easily massaged into your skin. This is largely due to the sunflower content since sunflower is easily absorbed topically and is often used for massage since it penetrates many layers of skin.
If you want healthy looking skin and the benefits of natural anti-aging nutrients, add Five Seed Blend to your daily skin regimen. Check out how-tos online if you’re interested in oil cleansing. This practice deep cleans while balancing your skin’s natural oil production. You can easily swap in Five Seed Blend for more common single seed oils recommended by oil cleansing experts (e.g. sunflower oil) for extra benefits.
Use it for healthy hair…
Take about half a teaspoon of oil, rub it between your hands and then pull it through your hair, massaging some of the oil into your scalp. Then take a towel and cover your hair. Let it sit for 30-60 minutes before washing it out. You can even warm the towel before you wrap your head to make for a more relaxing experience.
How will this benefit you? It’ll make your hair stronger and more resistant to breakage. It’ll moisturize your hair and scalp, leaving you free of flakes and smoothing out dry or frizzy hair.
Speaking of frizz, Colleen Williams, at YouBeauty.com, talks about a use for sunflower oil (one of the oils in our blend) that also applies to Five Seed Blend: “With its light texture, sunflower oil can be used to smooth frizzies and flyaways while injecting some much-needed nutrition into dry hair. Simply take a small amount in the palm of your hand and lightly smooth along your part line.”
Five Seed Blend hair masks will leave your hair shiny and beautiful.
